IEA Resident Artist Kathryn Polk

With her love of 画, she makes daily entries into her sketchbook to help develop figurative imagery and narrative content that investigates the various paths of women’s lives. 

She studied Fine Art at the 孟菲斯 Academy of Art and The University of 孟菲斯. In 2002, she began working with traditional stone lithography. Polk’s lithographs can be found in permanent print collections throughout the world such as Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Sado Print Museum (Japan), The Museum of Fine 艺术 (Boston), The National Academy of Fine 艺术 (Hangzhou, 中国), The University of Auckland (New Zealand), Yonsei University Wonju Campus (Korea), The University of Wales (UK). Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art (France), The Denver Art Museum (Colorado), The University of Arizona Museum of Art, The University of California-Davis/Gorman Museum, Proyecto ‘Ace (Buenos Aires, 阿根廷), 打印 & Photographs Division/Library of Congress (Washington, DC), Janet Turner Print Museum (Chico), Jules Heller Print Study Room/Arizona State University Art Museum, The Block Museum/Northwestern University, Spencer Collection/The New York Public Library. 

Kathryn Polk is co-owner of L VIS Press, a print studio dedicated to the development of stone lithography techniques as well as other 版画 practices. L VIS Press recently relocated from Arizona to Indiana. 

The IEA is supported by the National Endowment for the 艺术, The New York State Council on the 艺术 with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, the Schein-Joseph Endowment and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr Foundation. 

The IEA is a high technology research studio facility within the School of Art and Design, which encourages and supports projects that involve interactive multi-media systems, experimental sonic/video production, digital imaging, and publications. The IEA is committed to developing cultural interactions spurred by technological experimentation and artistic investigations. 

The IEA offers two types of residency: Time-based/ New Media and Print Media. The IEA video and sound studio offers artists an integrated system with real-time video, image-processing software, hardware and video capture. The IEA’s Experimental Print Media Program Residency seeks artists who want to explore Digital Printmedia technologies to further and expand their working practice. Artists  have access to state-of-the-art digital arts facilities.
